Ok, let’s talk about Sundays at the Plaza. For one, we love being able to wake up on the weekend and have one place to go for everything we need. We start the day with a workout class and somehow end up at brunch with pancakes and espresso drinks in martini glasses. That’s our idea of a good time. So how do we make it all happen in one morning? Let’s walk through it.
Yoga Barre
Yoga Barre is our go-to for a quick morning workout. It’s located on the top floor of the Plaza, classes are easy to book online, and they run about 60 minutes. We usually get there a little early and grab a juice or water from Valley Farm Market downstairs so we’re not scrambling once class starts.
The class lineup rotates, so you can pick the class for your level each day. Think yoga sculpt, infrared flow, barre flow. It’s approachable for anyone trying a barre or sculpt class for the first time, but can also leave you sore, in the best way. P.S. We took a class with Macy Clark and loved it.
The Cottage
After class, we like to head down to The Cottage for brunch. We love being able to sit either inside or outside. Our order has become somewhat of a tradition at this point including some combination of griddle pancakes, don’t pass up the lemon ricotta ones and an omelet or benedict. A true staple on the menu is the Eggs La Jolla Benedict, which has been on the menu since 1992… yes you read that correctly.
Beyond food, get your coffee fix for the day with a twist. The Cottage serves up shaken coffee in martini glasses, that make the morning feel extra festive. We love the Clydesdale with oat milk, brown sugar, and cinnamon or the Jumpstart with cold brew and salted cream. You honestly can’t go wrong with any of their shaken coffees.
And that’s the morning.
A workout, pancakes, good coffee, and no real effort to make it all happen. You’re in one place, everything flows, and before you know it, it’s already been a solid Sunday.
