Valley Farm Market and High Marea held a festive grand opening event in Del Mar Plaza on Saturday, January 10, bringing specialty groceries, butcher-fresh meats, sustainable seafood and Baja-inspired coastal cuisine to the North County coast.
Valley Farm Market â a family-owned specialty grocery and butcher shop that has served San Diego since 1956 â opened its third location at 1555 Camino Del Mar this weekend, joining its flagship Spring Valley store and its La Jolla market near Windansea Beach. The new Del Mar location reflects decades of tradition under third-generation owner Derek Marso, offering a full lineup of premium meats, fresh sustainable seafood, local organic produce, house-made products and prepared foods designed for quick stops or full grocery runs.
High Marea, Del Mar
High Marea, a Baja-inspired fast-casual restaurant adjacent to the market, made its Del Mar debut as part of the celebration. Focused on fresh seafood and coastal flavors, every dish at High Marea is prepared using tallow rather than seed oils â an intentional choice that shapes the menu, which includes heirloom corn tortilla tacos, ceviche verde, seared ahi, spicy poke, grass-fed Sonoran ribeye and shareable plates like elote and tallow fries topped with baby jack cheese and salsa.
The grand opening festivities began with Valley Farm Market opening its doors early in the morning followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and High Mareaâs debut later in the day. Guests enjoyed special giveaways, samples and an opportunity to explore both offerings â a new culinary and specialty grocery destination in Del Mar Plaza.
