Join us on the Ocean View Deck as The Rotary Club of Del Mar hosts its 17th Annual Sunset Soiree fundraiser on Tuesday, October 5! Guests can expect to see a stunning sunset, live entertainment, as well as enjoy sips and bites from Del Mar’s finest restaurants (including your Plaza favorites), local wineries, and microbreweries. Better yet? This event offers opportunities to raise money for amazing causes and organizations with a fabulous auction boasting over 70 fantastic items to bid on!
Be on the lookout for Del Mar Plaza’s very own Monarch Del Mar, Il Fornaio, Tamarindo, and Pacifica Del Mar, who will be providing food and beverages to party-goers. And, among the long list of generous auction item donors are Shimbashi Izakaya and Del Mar Rendezvous. Needless to say, if there’s one thing the Plaza loves, it’s coming together to help our local community!
The Rotary Club of Del Mar first received its charter at the historic Hotel Del Mar in 1954. While the Hotel Del Mar is no longer, the club continues to serve the needs of the Del Mar and Solana Beach communities, both with labor and financial support of several nonprofit agencies that serve the needs of the less fortunate.
Each year the Rotary Club of Del Mar’s Sunset Soiree raises over $30,000 to support schools, activities, nonprofit agencies in the local community, as well as underserved nations around the world. This year, the club has chosen the following groups to support:
Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, Community Resource Center, End Polio Now, Interact Service Clubs at Torrey Pines, Sunset and Cathedral Catholic High Schools, Leadership, Ethics and Determination training for 8th-grade students, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Model UN, Nativity Preparatory Academy, San Diego Blood Bank, Support of medical training in Ethiopia; Youth and Women Empowerment in Burundi, medical clinics and a school in India; communities in Uganda, Kenya and Chechnya, Boys Scouts and local sports teams, Torrey Pines High School Robotics Club, and College Scholarships for local high school graduates.
