5 Ways to Move More in April

It’s time to lace up those sneakers and find your stride, April is National Move More Month! Created by the American Heart Association as a way to help improve the health of Americans everywhere, Move More Month is aimed at getting more people up and moving.

At Del Mar Plaza, there are so many opportunities to take charge of your physical and mental wellbeing. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Schedule Breaks

Avoid sitting for too long and set a reminder to move around for five minutes multiple times a day. Ready for a lunch break? The restaurants at the Plaza all offer delicious dishes with all the essential nutrients you need to maintain a balanced diet. Make sure you’re giving yourself time throughout the day–pencil in a quick break and fuel your body at one of our eateries!

Be Creative

Find more ways to get up and off the couch by taking a walk around Del Mar! From hiking and surfing to running along the beach, there are plenty of opportunities to soak up the sun while being physically active. If you have a furry friend, take breaks to play or enjoy the outdoor space at the Del Mar Plaza!

Put the Screens on Hold

Dedicate time each day for the whole family to unplug and take an active break. Throw a dance party, play a game of hide-and-seek inside or take a walk down to the Del Mar Plaza and enjoy free, live music on our Ocean View Deck. What better way to recharge than the Plaza’s stunning ocean views, beautiful spring weather, and talented local musicians.

Move More While Working at Home

Try walking or moving for informal discussions and brainstorming meetings. You may find you’re more creative on your feet! While you’re out, stop by Kini Koffee for a refreshing iced latte and take a meeting on our Ocean View Deck. A little movement and a change of scenery can bring more joy into your workday.
