Newest Hot Spot Bolsters Del Mar Plaza’s Flourishing Culinary Scene DEL MAR, Calif. – March 25, 2014 – El Agave Restaurant and Tequileria is opening in Del Mar Plaza, bringing traditional “Hispanic-Mexican” cuisine and award-winning tequilas to the beautiful coastal village of Del Mar. Situated on the third level of Del Mar Plaza, the long awaited El Agave Restaurant and Tequileria will open its doors on April 1, 2014. The new Del Mar location is El Agave’s third in San Diego and first in North County, boasting an expansive 6,000-sq. ft. space, indoor and outdoor seating, and sweeping ocean views. “Del Mar Plaza couldn’t be a more perfect location in which to blend our unique menu offerings with a beautiful ocean view location,” said owner, Juan Carlos Gomez.
Known for its bold and authentic flavors, El Agave’s menu, prepared by Executive Chef Mario Montes, is inspired by the cooking styles of ancient cultures including the Aztecs and Mestizos. Popular menu items will include lobster meatballs, a variety of mole sauces and the restaurant’s infamous filet mignon in tequila with a red wine reduction sauce. The Del Mar Plaza location, designed by Mexican architect Isabel Infante, will also feature a comprehensive ‘tequila museum’ where guests can sample more than 1,000 premium tequilas from around the world. Offering the area’s largest collection of tequila, El Agave’s Del Mar location is the only restaurant of its kind located in San Diego’s North County region.
